"In a Tuesday letter to health insurers, CMS proposed a new set of rules to govern the plans to be offered through federal health exchanges for the 2015 benefit year. The proposed rules would require insurers to submit a list of providers offered on each of their plans, and CMS would review the list to make sure that the plans provide “reasonable access” to hospitals, mental health providers, oncologists and primary care services."
I think that Obama/Ocare lovers are less rational than the policy makers. The policy makers are sometimes willing, usually as secretly and quietly as possible, to recognize flaws. The lovers go to any lengths to deny that anything is wrong.
Which will of course raise the price and/or reduce the benefits of exchange plans in future years because mandating wider networks reduces the ability of insurers to remove the highest cost providers and to negotiate better prices and cost-control measures with the rest.
If you want to control medical inflation trends for the benefit of consumers and taxpayers you need to let insurers keep a lever to do it with. That's the trade-off here; not saying the regulators are right or wrong both because I haven't looked at the numbers to have an accurate picture and because there are normative judgments involved, but you can't have your cake and eat it too.
No, you're the one joking. "Insurance" is not "access". It is a financial service.

Oh, and we told you BEFORE it was passed that this would happen. But did you listen? No, you just accused us of hating poor people. Well, the point is, this was painfully obvious then and and actually painful now.
So, the cure? Stop listening to liberal politicians when they tell you they can fix or take care of you. Why? They lie.
Don't expect the left to learn from this, they won't. The only answer liberals dems can envision for such a colossal failure by government, is to demand an even more aggressive and larger government.
The liberal Democrats trust government implicitly, even though they can create epic disasters like this ACA and not be held to any accountability. But they don't trust our private sector businesses, even though they must obey and follow the laws and regulations of our capitalist system.
They will believe implicitly, the very next smooth talking politician that comes along, pouring honey in their ear, with promises of another government run Utopian scheme. Don't be shocked when these same libs fall for a top to bottom, soup to nuts full blown government single payer system. They will have honey pouring out of their ears with dull blank looks on their faces chanting "yes we can."
when more government resulted in total disaster, the answer on the left is more, more, more...
The simple solution - get government entirely out of health care.
End criminalization of unlicensed healthcare and trade in medicine.

Actually he knew that it won't matter what's in the law, because he IS the law, and can slice it, dice it, and do whatever he wants with it... it's good to be king.
