Per a recent Pew Survey..most Americans blame the Republicans in Congress as much as the Democrats for this past year's performance...

Despite these tepid ratings, most Americans (54%) say that they are happy that the Democrats won control of Congress in last year's elections. That represents a modest decline since last November, but positive views of the Democratic congressional victory have remained stable since March. At least in part, this reflects the fact that Republican leaders are blamed about as often as Democratic leaders for Congress' lack of productivity.

Unlike last year, however, the public apportions the blame for Congress's perceived lack of productivity fairly evenly. Among those who say Congress has been less productive than in the past, 26% blame Democratic leaders, up from just 10% a year ago. But about as many (30%) blame Republican leaders, while 34% blame both parties. In October 2006, fully 59% blamed Republican leaders for Congress accomplishing less than usual.

Summary of Findings: Public Dissatisfied with Democratic Leaders, But Still Happy They Won

Sounds like "the American People" are moving in the right direction. Pretty soon they'll be as estranged from the Senate as Nancy Pelosi, and as fed up with the House as Harry Reid.

And those numbers were swollen by the infamous judicial nominee filibusters. The record just broken was from the 107th Congress (2001-02), during most of which the Senate was divided 50-50. And at that, the record level was only barely achieved. What we have seen so far in the 110th Congress is a horse of a completely different color. Nothing approaching this has been seen in the history of the republic. As Trent Lott has openly stated, the Republican game now is simple obstructionism. Just say no. To whatever. Republicans filibustered the Iraq funding bill. Were they opposed to that? No. They didn't like how much money the majority had put in it. They wanted more. In the end they got more. The will of the minority replaced the will of the majority. That's how the Republican idea of representative democracy works these days...as if they hadn't corrupted enough already...
You are mistaken on a couple of key points. First, the Senate was not divided 50-50 for most of the 107th Congress. "Jumping" Jim Jeffords switched parties in May 2001 giving the Democrats control of the Senate from June 2001 through December 2002. Second, the Iraq funding bill you mention the Republicans filibustering was NOT something they, or any reasonable American, could support since the Democrats attempted to insert their own time-table for ending the war. Maybe if the Democrats stopped playing games with the nation's security by trying to usurp the Commander-In-Chief's responsibilities and started focusing on the needs of the nation they would not find their garbage being filibustered all the time. The Democrats in Congress are so busy trying to assume the role of the President they can't even enact the federal budget on time.

You left out the two weeks prior to the Bush inauguration when VP Gore's tie-breaker vote also left the Dems in control. But Jeffords' switch (to Independent, btw) did not alter his votes, only the organization, and the matter has no bearing at all on the fact that the previous record number of Senate filibusters was established during the 107th Congress, not in the 108th or 109th as had been suggested earlier. The suggester of that was off base.

Who are all these people running around town saying they will have 50,000 troops home by summer? Are these Republicans, or has George Soros hired a bunch of evil impostors and dressed them all up to look like Republicans? You know, our enemies (the terrorists) might very well take that sort of talk to be a timetable, and thus do all of the bad things that they are supposed to do once there is a timetable. And the Republicans claim they are strong on national defense? Clearly, this is a hoax! Oh, and was the timetable proposed in the funding bill a binding one, or was that a non-binding timetable that I saw?

Maybe if the Republicans stopped throwing around trite cliches such as all of those above and tried engaging themselves in the actual process of governing, the needs of the nation (such as reversing just about every policy that Bush -- in a continuing abuse of his authorities and responsibilities -- has ever put in place) would be met a little more often.

Pretty tough talk, considering that the Republicans in 2006 didn't manage to enact a budget at all, or had you "forgotten" about that. Since they already had the Presidency in hand, what in the he!! were they so busy doing? Trying to save face over Mark Foley?

Flip Flopping belly smacking liberal socialist of today are so screwed up.
Wasnt very long ago that party said that congress is suppose to run the country and not the President. Then when they no longer controlled the congress and has Wild Bill in office it was the President who runs the country. Then when GW won the White House it wasnt right to allow him to have so much power, now they are back to the whining ways of we controlled the congress and we cannot get anything done because of those republicans.

Bunch of whiny butted jokes they are.
I do blame these goofs for what they do, they are not trying to do what you elected them to do, they are so blindsided by they hatred they fail to realize what their jobs really are.

Yesterday all I heard was we need to be independant from foreign oil, many libs used that all day long, BUT, they speak that one side of the mouth and then turn around and want us to be tree hugging forest loving little rats that think that the trees are more important then our dependence on foreign oil.

I say the libs need to do their job or get out of town, send a bill that has merit to the floor and it will be passed. Send one that doesnt and it wont be passed. Simple as that.

Gosh, I would love to be a mouse under Nancy Pelosi desk, I can see this freak crying all day long that she cannot get her way. Thank god for that.
Poor Nancy and Dirty Harry cannot stand the fact that they THOUGHT they were going to change the world and they ran into a brick wall..... a soild one that not allow them to put us in a worse position then we are.

You sound very angry. With the primary season just getting underway, maybe you should take comfort in the way the Iowa vote went. It looks like we might end up having two decent candidates who aren't part of their partys' "machine" and who both came up from humble beginnings.

This might be very good for America.

Not angry at all.

Humble beginnings... uhhh

Neither of the two winners yesterday I dont think will win the nomination.

Do you find it odd that the media is saying that Huckebee won the election yesterday because of his Christain votes but they kinda forget to bring up anything why Obama won?

I am not comfortable with the voting at all in Iowa, is tells me alittle about the way people are thinking but there is a long way to go.

If you want to watch a real dog fight, watch Wild Bills Cavalry come out to save poor Hillary, they will get back to playing dirty. Obama hasnt seen anything yet as the Clintion machine has just begun.

Oh this is going to be a good one. Hannity can sit back and watch these two choak each other to death, In the end, I believe the Clinton team will win big, they are the best at digging up skeletons even if they have to dig up some from their own back yard to use..................

Is aint going to be pretty real soon. Hateful negatives was created by the people and now we are all going to see what they are really made of.

HC machine, do you mean Colmes, the goofy dumber one on the right who never lets anyone finish a sentence?
