In defense of the US, the vast majority of China's airports are virtualy brand new. That government has to spend money on something.

I agree that we desperately need major infrastructure repairs and upgrading all over this country.
The problem for me is that under this administration and this congress the incompetence and lack of accountability is even worse than under Bush. So I just see us funneling massive amounts of tax dollars into corrupt black holes that don't give us any goods in the end.

Atlanta international is about the best to say its the busiest airport, not the biggest but the busiest.

They've put a lot of work into some of JFKs terminals, and some are actually pretty nice (5, 8, and maybe now 4, but I haven't seen it since they finished the work.) The airside is a mess (because of it's lousy basic design.)

The problem with NY's airports is that their old designs. We really need something new from the ground up, but where? I do have an idea, but a lot of people wouldn't like it.

And btw, all this belongs in the NY forum, not here.
