Gay marriage is much more contentious to a handful of Christians.

And perhaps you missed it, but there were a handful of Christians quoting the Bible back in the day who said that certain passages did prohibit interracial marriage.

And nothing is stopping people from obeying what they believe to be God's law. The legalization of same-sex marriage will not require you to marry someone of the same sex.

If you're going to be condescending to us, we're going to be condescending right back.
I am not sure I know the answer to this because Eric Clapton is a God.

And YOU are free to obey your gods will, but you can not force others to live by YOUR religious beliefs.

I was just wondering why they chose this fight instead of civil unions, which I believe would be a far more palatable concept for people to accept.
You mean, like segregation? That worked out so well.

Same rights for everyone, not some lesser-grade "right" that's more "palatable" to the bigots.

Sorry, that's just the way it is and should be

He is. And he's real.

This is all about the legality of it to reap the financial benefits.
Throwing religion at this means nothing.

Nothing is stopping two people from living together their entire lives.
It's all about the money.

OK, as a guitar player I will accept Eric as possibly a minor deity, but not as Jehovah God.
