There are 4 pillars to society.
Family-church-government-business.

It's no secret that the family structure today has changed.
It's no secret that church doesn't hold the place it did in society.

Government is the next pillar that people will depend on to set values, etc.

It's quite prevalent in the schools where the teachers are now having to have formal instructions on simple values that kids should have learned their first 5 years of life.

Divorced parents, single mothers, single fathers, busy parents, uninvolved parents, abusive parents, mentally ill parents, deceased parents leading to foster parents.

The nuclear family model is the best foundation for a functioning self-sufficient society. It's all but eroded, and you now have state and federal involved in the raising of children and the care of the elderly.

Oh. So when you said "family" you meant sitcom families. I get your point, but you're being nostaligic for a time that did not exist.

We are just shy of that so they don't think the USG is taking over.
To them the USG is taking care of them because they can't take care of themselves.
They need the USG to fix what the USG itself did to them.

Americans still get to keep $.40 of every dollar they own so the USG still has leeway to suck it all from us.

Govt already owns large shares of most, if not all publicly traded corps. NM the fact they regulate all of it. That is aside from lobbying and revolving doors. Really, not a right or left issue.

Banks? You do know that the banks went belly up and guess who paid for it don't you? And now that they know the taxpayers will pick up the bill you don't think they'll take those risks again?

Healthcare? You want to go back to the days where your insurance company decided if you got treatment?

At what point did you begin to believe that the job of the government is to take care of the American people, and what information led you to that conclusion?

As far as schools go, the US used to have the best public schools in the world, and then Republicans started defunding them so that now they're a laughing stock. After doing this, they declared them a failure.
The world........according to liberals.

NO ONE "defunded" education . We spend more per pupil than any nation on earth. What are the causes of relative educational declines?

1. Decline of two parent families
2. Less emphasis on education in families
3. Higher numbers of minorities and poor
4. Women's movement/ the best used to be teachers
5. Less discipline in school
6. Teachers union rise in power

When affluent US whites are compared to the rest of the world, they do quite well.

PS- the government IS CONTROLLED by lobbyists. They buy our senators through PACs and write most of the laws.

WAKE UP

What to do?
1. Term limits
2.make senators appointed, not elected
3. Ban lobbying and PACs

Sweden has publically built internet and their service costs $25 for speeds 30x faster than US speeds. Not all goods fit nicely into the private market. Thats why. Look up public goods, private goods, common goods, and collective goods.
