By looking at that dress, do you think it is worth $12,000.00? What you see happening is a fleecing of the American taxpayer. I find it wasteful and unwarranted during these horrendous economic times perpetuated by the putative president. Michelle looks like she went window shopping for drapes to wear like Carol Burnett once did.

SIMPLY AMAZING! Michelle O’s Dinner Dress Cost More Than Annual US Poverty Level | The Gateway Pundit

Michelle Obama’s dinner dress cost more than the annual poverty level in the US.
Via Twitchy:

Stu Burguiere @WorldOfStu Michelle Obama's dress = $12,000. US Poverty Level = $11,490.

Last night the Obamas hosted a state dinner for French Socialist leader Francois Hollande.
Michelle Obama wore a $12,000 dress – while the rest of America suffers through the worst economic recovery ever.

It's a hideously ugly dress.

I'm sure since it was a State event, We, the People paid for it.

Unbelievably ugly.

A lot of the guests were disgusting Hollyweird types. We paid for them to shovel food down their gullets, too.

Obama must be impeached for this.

I think I found where she got it from.

If she can afford it what is your problem? Why do you hate rich people? You must one of the 47% who feel they are entitled.

The poverty level for one individual with no children in the contiguous US, that is. Not that it really matters, as long as it was bought with personal funds.

You're starting to sound like a Liberal which isn't a good thing... They earn money and brought a dress with that money. Why would a Conservative have a problem with this?

There was a thread on this topic earlier today and it was closed.

Nancy Reagan was often criticized for her gowns and the record setting number of state dinners held during the Reagan years. Nancy worked with designers to donate one of a kind pieces to her in exchange for publicity. The Reagans failed to report the gifts and there was some outrage. In the end, Nancy donated the worn dresses to museums or some such thing and eventually stopped accepting such personal gifts.

Subsequent first ladies pay for their own clothes.

I guess Obama could have treated the President of France to a Le Big Mac and called it a day.

This thread is about Michelle Obama's dress and not Nancy Reagan from 30 years ago. Please stay focused.

And? I still don't understand the faux outrage on this one, is this all they have to talk about on right wing media today?
