i feel roughly the same way about Communists (on the left), as I do Tea Partiers (on the right).

The qualifications for true membership in the tea party are very stringent. Not quite as stringent as getting in the Hells Angels but getting closer every day.
Lately they've been going after Boehner and McConnell. I'd call that politically crazy. Especially during an election year.

I think the Republican party realize that the tea party isn't just going after the current Government, the society, diversity and democrats. The tea party is also going after the Republican Party itself and what it stands for. They are 20 first century brown shirts.
That hardly makes them "crazy."

IMO, the Tea Party SHOULD go after the Republican Party itself because the TP is what the Republican Party used to be. Yesterday and today, Sean Hannity was bashing the Republican Party quite a bit, and with good reason... that party is quite different than it used to be in the 1980s.

I don't recall a time that the Republican's were ever what the TP is. There are times that the claims by the Republican's are similar but claims and actions are different things.

When you say "used to be" what are your time parameters. I was a Barry Goldwater Republican in 1964. Believe me NOTHING done by us was in the same galaxy as the Tea Party Republicans. Remember Barry's famous quote: "You don't have to be straight to shoot straight"? Try that out on your average Tea Party wacko. No, the Tea Party is not even close to what the Republican Party has been. But people who are too young or having dementia might think so.

FYI: I was responding to a poster who wants to abolish both parties. I was just curious what life would be like in America under his "no party system". All he came back with was a copy of the Constitution. Well that's all well and good, but how would the Constitution be applied in real life under a no party system? Give me some specifics.
I've found that for every Article and amendment of the constitution there is a different faction, group, or political party that interprets it in a different way, depending on their agenda. IE: The constitution guarantees the right of a woman to have an abortion but just as many people believe that the constitution guarantees just the opposite. Many people believe that the FED is unconstitutional, while just as many believe that not only is it constitutional but extremely vital to the running of the nation.
I was very curious as to what would be his vision of American life with a no party political system that was run by somebody's interpretation of what the constitution means. I have asked this question many times in this forum over the years and begged for specific answers from these constitutional "Experts".

I got nothing but dead air, so far.
I am guessing this is about me. Not sure where you get the idea I want to abolish both parties? I want to see an end to the corruption and the cronyism. I want restraints on government. Is this a bad thing? If these things mean an end to the current two-party system, then so be it.

When have the eco freaks, ELF or the EPA ever totally obstructed the entire country, shut down the government and cost the taxpayers $24 billion? No way. The Tea Party is a destructive entity out on a limb by themselves. They attack people personally, spew bile and hate, disseminate and spread misinformation and are extremely disliked by a large majority of the country.
