I keep hearing this guy is supposed to be some type of hero, but the guy stole someones password. I hope he is never allowed back in this country without facing trial.
He should never come back to this hypocritical country at all.
Told us our government was doing bad things. Just like Wikileaks. We need people to tell us what our government is actually doing. Maybe it will discourage tyranny.
First and foremost, the surveillance state is robust. It is robust politically, legally, and technically. I can name three different NSA programs to collect Gmail user data. These programs are based on three different technical eavesdropping capabilities. They rely on three different legal authorities. They involve collaborations with three different companies. And this is just Gmail. The same is true for cell phone call records, Internet chats, cell-phone location data.
Snowden himself is largely irrelevant, and attempts to focus the spying "debate" on him personally are distractions. All that really matters is the information that has been disclosed, and that is what ought to be considered and debated.
