@The OP: I don't think that Latinos will ever be a majority (as opposed to a plurality) of the U.S. population. That said, even if they did become the majority of the population, I honestly wouldn't care about that it much. Also, I don't see why anyone should consider such an event in itself to be a problem.
They're both Latinos, and that associates them with Mexicans whether they like it or not.
You and I "see" Cubans and Mexicans as "Hispanic" but; they DON'T like to own up to it unless there's goodies to be had. Same with Dominicans; even tho most ARE "Black", saying a Dom IS Black can be fightin' words to 1 of them.

I would also like to add that intermarriage with hispanics also seems to be fueling part of their population growth. I think I've read that more hispanics are identifying as white and some of them are probably people who are Irish, German, and Cuban or whatever yet call themselves hispanic for whatever benefits they can get.
Personally, I think that the hispanic label should be removed on the 2020 census.

That's their problem. And I don't care if those are fighting words. If they are, then we've just gotta fight then. But I'm calling it what it is.
Cuban Americans are Latinos, and that binds them to Mexicans in that regard. If a Dominican is black, I'm saying that he/she is black.

Agreed. If NO goodies were to be had; the "Hispanic" labels would be dropped real quick by the white ones and maybe the Black ones. Not sure about the Indian Hispanics tho; many of them DON'T like being tossed in with American Indians even tho sometimes they're the same "race".

It's a problem because it is happening via illegal immigration. What country in the world would welcome a change to their demographics, culture, language and identity as a nation in that unlawful manner?
It's not a problem. They get the numbers, they get the influence. That's how democracy works. I consider hispanic culture rich and positive. They value family, religion, hard work, and all the things that I believe make America a great country.

It will happen without immigration. The simple fact is that whites aren't having children in numbers to maintain their majority and Hispanics are having multiple offspring.
