"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." Thomas Jefferson

Scrambled. Jefferson did say "If we can but prevent the government from wasting the labours of the people, under the pretence of taking care of them, they must become happy." Correct sentiment, so - OK.

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have. Thomas Jefferson

Jefferson never said that. First seen in print in 1952, first attributed to Jefferson in the 2000s(!)

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government." Thomas Jefferson Jefferson never said that. First seen in print in 1913.

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." Thomas Jefferson Jefferson never said that, either. First seen in print in 1989.

"To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical." Thomas Jefferson[/quote] Hey, you got one. Jefferson almost said that - "to compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical".

If you're a fan of Jefferson, allow me to suggest using Thomas Jefferson to check quotes?

Let me finish that for you.. You missed the "conclusion". Any questions let me know.

"Well given that all of this bumph was known back in 2008; I guess "how has America benefitted" would be answered by stating America's democratic process prevailed once again. Unfortunately, the destruction of the middle class and the largest income gap in the history of the country which can clearly be seen through the eyes of a record number of Americans out of work and a majority on entitlement programs just to make ends meet."

1. Obama's father was a communist who wrote about socialism.
2. Obama's mother was a communist sympathizer.
3. Obama's parents met in a Russian class (back then it was the Communist U.S.S.R.)
4. Obama's teen mentor was Frank Marshall Davis ( A known CPUSA member)
5. Obama's brother Roy and cousin Odinga are known Marxists.
6. Obama attended socialist conferences at Cooper Union.
7. Obama was hand picked by Alice Palmer to succeed her in the Illinois State Senate.
8. Obama's run for the Illinois State Senate was launched by a fundraiser organized by former domestic terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorhn in their Chicago home.
9. Obama was a member of the socialists 'New Party' in the early 90's and sought its endorsement.
10. Obama had a close relationship with the "Anti-Capitalist' group ACORN.
11. Obama attended several meetings with the 'Chicago Democratic Socialists of America' and was even endorsed by them.
12. Obama had openly endorsed Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders.

Those are the reasons why he is labeled a 'red diaper' baby and the question of the title of this thread still stands which is:

How Has America Benefited From Electing A 'Red Diaper' Baby In The Name Of 'Putative' President Barack Obama?

Obama was not properly "vetted" before he was placed on the national stage. He has been a good lesson for the US, and perhaps future candidates will be examined more closely. Oddly, Hillary Clinton was the first to call attention to the inconsistencies and disturbing associations in Obama's past, to no avail.

Let's hope that when Hillary runs, that the nation will look a little more closely into her past.

Seems like two elections cycles was more than enough vetting. [MOD CUT/off topic]
