Well should I? I'm not sure if it is allowed in VA. Having never been in this situation, do you think I should shoot the cop? Sounds like this LEO should have never been an LEO in the first place.

It is technically legal to defend yourself from the police. There have been a few cases, a long time ago. Better just to cooperate and work things out with lawyers later.
