Dick Cheney is also against food stamps. He wants to get rid of the 84 billion spent on food stamps so we can boost the pay and benefit level past the $92,000 that the average serviceman collects. You gotta love Republicans they have their own welfare program -DOD although at $92,000 isnt that above welfare? The other welfare program that the Republican base loves...Medicare which takes $240 billion out of general revenues. This is the Republican version of socialism. It kind of reminds me of the old USSR where the military bankrupted the country and everyone stood at attention on May Day saluting the all powerful military. We have the military and the same sort of reverence for people in intensive care in hospitals bankrupting they country. Dick Cheney has his heart thanks to Medicare but he could care less about the rest of us...just pay your taxes and be thankful for whats left...thats the Republican motto.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney on Monday accused President Barack Obama of cutting the defense budget because “he would rather spend money on food stamps.”

The entire pre-ww2 size comparison is nonsense compared to how much more firepower the U.S. is able to provide at a tactical level or force projection at a strategic level compared to the 1940s.
Using the same comparison the U.S. Army is currently smaller than our 1865 Civil War Union army.
Obama wants to reduce the size of our military to pre world war II because "nobody is going to attack us anymore".

He cuts military pay and retirement, and wants to increase military out of pocket for their health care, meanwhile raising wages and giving away new free health care subsidies to civilians. It's clear who is who, when Obama is rewarding his friends and punishing his enemies.
