Advertisements

So the NFL is really showing it's hypocrisy lately.

I'll admit I've never been to a live NFL game, and maybe only have ever enjoyed 1 game on TV. It honestly seems very 'girly' when I turn on the TV and see the NFL players wearing pink towel things on their pants, pink shoes, pink whatever..

It's obvious that the NFL is getting it's marching orders from the Oval office.

The same place where Lois Lerner got her marching orders, where Eric holder gets his, and where Msnbc gets their scripts.

How come the NFL can refuse to serve groups, by disallowing their advertisements in a NFL stadium? Yes, I know, you'll say , the NFL doens't own any stadiums, the owner of the team does, yada, yads... Well, from what I understand, almost all, if not all stadiums are built with the significant help of tax payer money.

So if I a group wanted to place an ad saying that Jesus is the King and he frowns upon the act of homosexuality, I bet the NFL would try to punish the team/owner that allowed that advertisement to be placed in any way possible. Probably in blackmail, since they like to follow their puppet master.

Or another example, would be an ad stating that "poor people are lazy" . I bet they would reject an ad with that message too, but income levels have already "proven" to not be discriminatory , since they can raise taxes on the rich or not give subsidies to the middle class because they make too much money.

Or another example, would be an ad stating that "our pres is a an idiot, just thought you should know" ..

How can they feel free to reject these types of ads? Do they think they have the right to refuse service based on religious beliefs, sexual orientation, etc?

There weren't many (any) full thoughts in there, so I am not really sure how to respond.

The NFL is no different than many broadcasters. Broadcasters can and do refuse to air commercials or programs if they show views that are not in line with those of the station or network. I respect that, to an extent; their business, their rules. Granted, that's not completely true given that they use public airwaves and have to have FCC licensing. The hypocrisy is that they promote actions that deny other businesses the same opportunity to select who they do business with. The integrity and honer of the MSM...well, I guess that is an oxymoron.

the nfl is a PRIVATE business, it is not government run, thus they can refuse to sell ad space to anyone they choose. also note that these ads are very likely to go out over the airwaves and all nfl games are televised these days in one market or another.

The 1st amendment only applies to the government. Even if a stadium is owned by a government entity, it is likely leased to a private organization, admittance is at the discretion of the private entity, and a whole host of other factors make it likely that the lessee has control over what advertisements are allowed.

Actually, no. The NFL allows the players to wear pink for certain games for breast cancer awareness. This started because Deanna Favre, wife of then Green Bay Packer QB Brett Favre, was diagnosed with breast cancer. The Green Bay Packers organization responded by selling a pink Packers cap at their Pro Shop for $15, and donating $5 from each sale for breast cancer research. This eventually spawned into the annual breast cancer awareness campaign within the NFL, where the players wear pink in support of it. Additionally, it also generates a great deal of revenue from sales of pink team merchandise to female fans of the sport.

So , I guess if a photography company doesn't believe in the message that a picture of two men with suits at a wedding creates, they have the right to deny their services, b.c they don't agree with the message that such pictures would obviously show... that it is OK and natural for 2 men to have anal sex and sleep in the same bed together and to adopt kids.

They could still offer the gay couple their services to say, take photographs of their home to sell it for top dollar on the market, since that wouldn't be promoting some belief that they disagree with. But if the picture would go against their view, then they could refuse to service it, not b.c of the people are gay, but the output (the pictures) would be speech that they do not agree with.

I have no idea how to respond to the OP..

First the NFL doesnt own the stadiums, they only rent them.

Nor do they have any control over the tv statations and the commercials that are played. The advertisers have control over what shows to advertise on and the costs vary as such.
