The attackers with the knives would probably recognize the fact that they are outpowered after hearing the first gunshot, and would either run away or get shot. Pretty simple really.

This was organized and premeditated, I don't think they had any problem with dying. Being naive is thinking the rest will run.

No it's common sense, if you have a knife do you think you stand a chance against someone with a gun? You've never heard the expression "don't bring a knife to a gunfight"?

A crowded place with people panicking is no place to use a gun unless you are trained to take them out with one bullet to the head without hurting the innocent. If you can't do that then your gun is worthless.

Again, naive. They operate by using fear. When they realize that those they are trying to hurt will stand up to them and return the favor, they will run. They are cowards.

Police can't even do that, that's why they often fire 50 shots to take down one person. So essentially what you're saying is it's useless to stop the attackers, just go ahead and let them kill everyone because we can't do anything about it.
Here's your "trained police" at work:

Terrorists don't run and they are no cowards. They are willing to die for their cause...whatever their cause was in this.

Then why did one of the boston bomber terrorists hide in someone's boat to prevent himself from getting shot?

Baloney. If I have some knife wielding idiot running towards me, and I am allowed to have my gun, I'm going to shoot his ass. Guarantee you that will make the others run. They are cowards. Everything they do is cowardly. There is absolutely nothing brave about what they do.
