Iraq & Afghanistan was done partially to provide stability in the vacuum made by a diminished Russia. If Pakistan and India can get nukes why not Iran & Iraq, too? Or the Taliban, who were earnestly attempting to get nuclear materials. Radical Chechens, too. Honestly, someone had to.
How do you suppose that the Taliban were gonna get nukes? Who were gonna give them to ' em.

Iran certainly wouldn't. And the Iraqis had none to give.

I see you have never been in the Military. Because if you had, you would know that wars are won on the ground. You can blow a country into oblivion, but you still must occupy them in order to control them. Otherwise you have nothing.

Donald Rumsfeld had military service (so did I...not that it's important to this topic) and he wanted lower troop levels too.

Chuck Hagel had distinguished service..as a grunt. He wants to cut troop levels too.

Default Shock and Awe would be a useless strategy with Russia

Watching the frustrated Russian leader Putin try to keep Ukraine from slipping away, brings to mind the question of what would happen if a Republican were at the helm? We look to Bush as the last example. "Shock and Awe", "Dead or Alive", "If you're not with us, you're against us", lie to engage, no plan to win the peace...this is the Republican way, and it never works. It would be worthless here.

President Obama, as usual, has this one right. Putin is violating international law, bringing the heat of the G7 on his head. Frustrated and looking like a damn fool, he is looking at an American President who has the support of the international community, and the power of restraint, diplomacy, and intelligent negotiation. Russia faces isolation, sanctions, visa bans, and so forth. Nobody wants a military confrontation, so this President is commendable in his approach.

Sorry Pubs. With all your negative narrative, you are again on the INFERIOR side of the argument here. Kudos to President Obama and his fine administration.

Right, because the last Republican president we have kicked Russia's commie @ss all over the place when it invaded Georgia -- oh, wait.

Um, like what, insulting him through social media? Yeah, come to think of it, it's fitting that Sarah Palin uses twitter.

A liberal wrong again? What a surprise!

Now when has Obama, or any liberal, EVER BEEN RIGHT?

stimulus
gulf oil spill
reznik
fast and furious
black panthers
stimulus to "green energy"
war on coal
raising taxes
obamacare
libya
egypt
syria
iran
russia/ukraine
unchecked federal spending
opposition to enforcement of immigration laws
use of the IRS to attack political opponants
NSA support
spying on journalists
initiative to put monitors in news outlets
opposition to the "surge"

As EVERYONE can now see, putting an inexperienced, incompetent idiot in the White House not only creates economic misery for the nation, it could get us all killed.

Default Why is Russia's invasion of Crimea different than Georgia

Why isn't the condemnation of Putin for his invasion of sovereign countries first and foremost, when did we become a country where politics is more important than national unity. Seems like many politicians would rather compliment Putin than support our own country.

I could not imagine this level of support for Khrushchev or Gorbachev.

Putin invaded Georgia in 2008, I don't hold Bush responsible because he had no control, why is Obama to blame for current affairs.

This could be more sinister than anyone thinks....

Remember when everyone in Obamas administration was praising the works of Mao & Marx?

Because the only bad invasions happen when Democrats are in the White House - everyone knows that!
