Nothing, which is why the words "United States" don't appear in the thread title, nor anywhere in the original post.

Just a discussion on yet another "socialist utopia" destroying the society it was promising to liberate/perfect/glorify.

Do you get angry every time history gets proven 100% reliable on socialism wrecking everything it touches, or just when conservatives/libertarians point out the latest example?

The fact that many on the Left want the US to be just like them.

Socialism in history has never been positive or lets say WON .. It has been a failure time after time. It may seem to work for a little until it catches up and then just stops working.

Oh here we go again "socialism" , a not even 200 year old system is the cause of all the problems. The Nordic states are socialists and it doesn't happen. So it cannot be a simple cause.

Amid extreme inflation and severe shortages, Venezuela to revamp currency laws - World Socialist Web Site
Producers of food and other items have been hit by shortages of foreign currency, mainly the US dollar, which they need in order import basic ingredients and raw materials, and many factories are running at a reduced capacity. Empresas Polar, one of the largest food suppliers in Venezuela, owed its foreign suppliers $157 million as of August 11.
With all of inflation propaganda its easy to miss that there is in fact a global dollar shortage which always effects the back water states the most. I was recently in one myself where I heard that US currency was "hard to come by".

Now all of this was predicted.

The US takes advantage of this of course since we have been "not messing with sovereign nations'?

U.S. Bankrolling Is Under Scrutiny for Ties to Chávez Ouster - NYTimes.com

The funds were provided by the National Endowment for Democracy, a nonprofit agency created and financed by Congress. As conditions deteriorated in Venezuela and Mr. Chávez clashed with various business, labor and media groups, the endowment stepped up its assistance, quadrupling its budget for Venezuela to more than $877,000.

In a speech before the US Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives in April last year the American Secretary of State, John Kerry, reminded the world that Latin America is the "backyard” of the US. The US has historically funded opposition groups in Venezuela, through the National Endowment for Democracy and USAID programs.
The current destabilisation attempts have been widely condemned by most Latin American governments. Bolivia’s president Evo Morales described the latest events as a coup against the legacy of late Hugo Chavez and Argentine Minister of Foreign Relations, the highly respected human rights advocate Héctor Marcos Timerman, said his government fully supported Venezuela’s democracy.

Oh so if its in your backyard.....And Crimea is not in anyone backyard?

The country has been mismanaged by nearly everyone and that is not something a country can afford to do when its essentially at war with the US which is also partly to blame. Its also another case of good old Dutch disease with over dependence on petroleum exports. Ya can't eat it, drink it or even wipe your ass with it.

I'm extremely left leaning and I don't believe socialism is better than capitalism. I merely advocate for regulated capitalism. Most right-wingers are too scared to even familiarize themselves with the actual platform of the left.

But you cant choke small business' either with over regulating them while letting big unions and corps get away with everything.

Are you talking about regulating the 1% ? The people (dems) and (repubs) bow down to?

You mean like "capitalism"?

Socialism is not even 200 years old. What ruined Rome, Pax-Marxana?

Is Mexico socialist or is Canada? Oops....

Top 10 Most Socialist Countries in the World - Peerform Blog

You people are the most reliably delusional people in the world along with any religious zealot that reduces all complexity to something simple that gives you pacifying comfort and contentment. I am afraid its a non nutritive nipple that one, by habit of indoctrination, gives suckle.

And this is coming from someone who hates welfare states....

It does not matter. Businesses shall not have more rights than citizens. To hell with businesses. Free market, unfettered capitalism is a one-way ticket to tragedy of the commons. That is simply unacceptable to the human species.

Like I said, I am very much pro-capitalism. It is the best economic system known to man. However, it has to be highly regulated to protect the people first.

Oh so you must get all your information from your own canonical scriptures?

In other words your argument has been annihilated and its time to duck and run.
