I would see

a. admitting the Urkaine to NATO
b. opening a nuclear missile base in Ukraine
c. joint military maneuvers with NATO in the Ukraine

would all be good ideas which would cause the Russians to stand down. Why? They are not idiots. They secured the Crimea. Do you think they would start WWIII by invading the Ukraine?
Great idea.....put an American nuclear weapons base in the Ukraine...that would be like having some drunken idiot sit in your kitchen with a shot gun demanding you make him some breakfast....The Ukraine has been part of Russia since the beginning of the culture....why don't you guys get that...always sticking your noses in places where it does not belong....If America and the EU were so truly democratic and socially benevolent they would have put an end to the mayhem and murder in Syria...but were not interested in wasting time and money...They hope that Syria would destroy itself from within....Ukraine is not Syria and provocateurs will not have success there.... All Ukrainian youth want is a better life and more money....Instead of sending cash to the Muslim Brotherhood....send some to the Ukraine...apparently Putin and the luxury set do not want to part with their billions.

Don't believe me?

GOOD. GOD. NO.

Putin is psychologically more than capable of saying "Oh, yeah? Well, me first, Sucker," and then hitting that button.

Nope..........When a country has nukes, you're done! Aint nothing you can do except sanctions and a bunch of lip.

We cant even mess with North Korea.........a little country like that!!

No you are not. In fact Australia has lower government spending than the US and easily beats the US in economic freedom rankings.

However the US is slightly more social conservative. However in Australia the first gay marriage bill was struck down while the opposite is happening in America.

At best you are an US moderate. No way you are to the left of the Democratic party.

Incorrect.

No carrier was dispatched off the coast of Georgia, carriers are not even allwoed to transit through Turkey into/out of the Black Sea.

Russia never had any intention of occupying Georgia. This was stated by Russia to the US during the invasion, and alter revealed in former Sec of Defense Gates' book Duty.

The US and EU response was as it was because Georgia initiated the attack. The OSCE reported stated Georgia was responsible for the attack, but faulted Russia for disproportionate amount of force.

Uh, no, he didn't. If he had, we wouldn't be having this conversation. He sent humanitarian aid, not a hostile force.

speaking as a trident submariner who got out of the USN in 2003...any military conflict directly with Russia would be a nuclear war, thus the we'd of the world. God help us all if someone were stupid enough to engage US forces directly with Russian forces.

The above statement does not imply we should threaten Russia with nuclear weapons, rather it imply's that only a country with a military as strong as Russia's can stop Russia in a combat situation.
i agree

still, suggesting that the u.s. should be involved militarily in this is also a bad idea.
