If (from what i understand ) the history books are and have been re- written somewhat
for different reasons,
do you think that even tho his time in office has been strange to say the least
and so much is covered up by the media, that new history books will say the truth
about how his time in office really was,
or will the over used excuse , 'racism' be the card played ,
as he never got a 'fair shake' by the white americans ,
and thus mean and lying things were said,
and also the problems were more than he could fix thanks to the republicans, etc....
Im just sitting here half asleep tonight and this popped into my head..
History loves morality tales. And history loves stories that can be reduced to good guys v. bad guys. More to the point, history tends to judge a leader by his or her enemies, and the Republicans have provided a whole pantheon of folks who will make Obama look good simply by comparison.
The Obama Presidency will fall neatly into the following narrative:
The election of Barack Obama signaled an historic rejection by much of the country of its traditional racism and jingoism. In that sense alone it will be portrayed as a great moral victory.
And even when faced by an intransigent and obstructionist Republican reaction (yes, the GOP led House will end up as the bad guys in this tale, with the Tea Party taking the role of chief protagonist) Obama will be credited with the ACA, with ending two inherited wars, with killing Osama Bin Laden, and with ending the worst recession since the great depression. This last in spite of deliberate efforts by the Republican House to sabotage the economic recovery.
Ultimately he will be remembered as a good President. Not top ten, but good.
History is written by the winners. If liberalism is victorious, Pres. Obama will be on the podium w/ Washington and Lincoln. If by some fluke individualism and conservatism wins, he we be a footnote, like King Edward who expelled the Jews from England in order to seize their property.
One hundred years from now, he won't be remembered or described at all. Twenty years from now he'll still be the butt of jokes, much like Cahtah and his killer rabbit.
