"Should Obama announce that if Putin takes Germany, US troops would not get involved"
I've been around the internet a long time kiddo, you're gonna have to troll harder than that.
The whole idea behind that question shows that the person is still caught in the cold war. Like, we are the good ones, Russia and China are the bad ones.
Russia's population is decreasing, they are already happy when they manage to keep their own giant country together. Russia is 50x the size of Germany, but has only 1.5x the German population.
There is no reason whatsoever for Russia to even think of invading Germany or any other country in Europe. It would be of no use to Russia whatsoever. But the bellicose American mind loves to see the world as a battle ground, as long as it is far away. But making a huge fuss about 9/11, which was peanuts compared to a real war zone...
Yeah gotta pay folks to live for free somehow...........gut the military..........leave the borders open.......all should be well.
Hey...you said it...I didn't.

Closing our bases in Europe pretty much means we will let the Europeans sort things out themselves.

The "bellicose American mind"? Hows the view with your head in the sand?
Maybe the "American mind" recalls history while you're busy chastising America.
History that has now repeated in Crimea, and just a couple years ago, in Georgia/South Ossetia. Who next? What do you care, right? It's all America's fault. In fact, Europe and Russia would be holding hands right now if not for the meddling of those pesky Americans!
Honestly, the POV is so sophomoric it borders on satire.

Those former Soviet countries are no saints, either, even if it does not fit into the Western logic that everyone who is against Russia is on the right side...
And already with Georgia Nato's expansion policy was a key reason for the Russian intervention.
It boils down to Putin being mad about the collapse of the USSR, that's all. Which U.S president would of told Putin to "tear down that wall"? Answer..... None. He's a little man with a Napoleon complex, and a lot of Nukes.
I am not sure that Putin has a Napoleon complex. Rather, I think that he might very well simply be looking for opportunities and taking advantage of them once/when they arise.
Germany caused the death of millions of Russians during WWII. In case Russia (Putin) decides to take Germany or at least E. Germany, should Obama announce that in no way would US troops become involved? Does the USA really have any interest in what happens in Europe?
Could Germany's military defend Germany if Russian troops rolled in?
There's a little thing called NATO which states that we must intervene in such a scenario.
If we don't, then the whole NATO alliance will become meaningless and fall apart.
One thing, though--in order for Putin to invade Germany, he needs to already invade at lest one other NATO member, since Russia does not have a common border with Germany. Thus, a Russian invasion of Germany will not be the event which caused WWIII to break out.
I don't think there will ever be a WWIII. It almost started in 1983 because of a misunderstanding. If anything a misunderstanding might cause it, but steps have been taken meanwhile to avoid such misunderstandings...
Nobody in the world wants a world war, every major country has nukes and would use them as a last resort, so the whole world would be screwed. Nobody wants that, not even the morons in Washington, Moscow, Beijing etc. The business with the paranoid fear of war is very lucrative, but war itself not at all.

We have more mobility scooter and quads in this country than Russia has ever imagined. We could easily transport a civilian army of Tea Partiers to Germany with their quads and defeat the soviets in 2-3 days. Thats why the Ruskies will never attack Germany.
Are you trying to start a world war 3? Obama should step down from being president and leave other countries alone and fyi it wasn't Germany's fault for the war it was aldof Hitler which he was French and the United States obviously knows nothing about the history of the past
