You're cutting a lot of people out of your life for a petty reason. (I am also a conservative BTW.)

I don't like to solely be around people who are exactly like me.

Not really, I can deal with most people as they are, but if they won't shut up about it and act like there's nothing else to talk about or do, then there's not much point there.

My wife had known a guy since high school, over 40 years ago. Every time she saw him in a conversation on Facebook, he ranted on and on about how much it cost to fly Air Force One. Everything is Obama's fault. The country is going to hell in a handbasket. This went on and on for 2-3 years. When she saw him actually threaten the President, she un-friended him so she wouldn't be associated with him should the authorities ever come looking for that guy. That had to do with his radicalism. Sorry, it wasn't because he was simply a Conservative.

Both sides have their intolerant nitwits but I find liberals much more likely to be hypersensitive and unfriend someone or try and get someone fired because they are offended.

If so, please tell us your story.

I have literally lost a relationship to one of my brothers after he began listening to Limbaugh and Fox News about 8 years ago. Any time I see him, he begins a political discussion which quickly deteriorates to an angry batch of unrelated "talking points" blurted out and that have no relevance or factual basis. I am saddened by this change in him. He used to be such a reasonable and gracious person. I cannot stand to see who he has become.
Mature people can agree to disagree respectfully.

I am very conservative and have MANY very liberal friends and relatives. We have, sometimes heated, discussions but, in the end we ALL agree still remain to be friends.

Hint, we NEVER resort to name calling like is done way to often on here.

Not everyone who's conservative is also religious. I have a lot of conservative leanings and I'm an Atheist.

If you don't stand up for what you believe in with your friends and relatives and they KNOW your political leaning, they will loose all respect for you.

That's not true. There is nothing wrong with not discussing politics with your friends. There is so much more to life than politics. I don't discuss religion or politics with people unless I know they enjoy those discussions. I like liv ely debates, but I know some can't stand it. That's what these forums are for.
