And their lives are still in danger to this day...as are the lives of a good many Canadians and Mexicans.

18 years in prison, 11 of those in solitary confinement. And if by "walks freely" you mean not permitted to talk to foreigners, having one's e-mail intercepted without a warrant, etc. then you are quite right.
