My son, 6th grade, told at public school that Muslims have to kill a Christian to go to heaven (state, Colorado)

By a teacher! In a PUBLIC school! I was livid! How DARE anyone teach my child to hate! How dare they teach my child that every member of any religion wanted to kill!
I call the school, anonymously describe what happened (my son wants no retaliation), sirens go off, the principal informs the fundamentalist christian teacher that what she "taught" was not ok, it was not her job. The teacher argues that ALL muslims think that! The principal had to explain a whole bunch of stuff to her. I am asked by the principal to please, please inform the school if any such thing is said again. The teacher also "taught" that all geographic features could be divided into "god-made" and "man-made". When the principal confronted the teacher the teacher insisted that EVERYONE believes in a god, so it should not offend anyone.
So, would you insist that the teacher be fired? I am seriously worried about what she has "taught" that might stick with my son forever, how ugly and sad. I have already spent weeks undoing the hate-teaching, should she still be teaching?
On the basis that she is indeed teaching this in a public school, I would definitely insist that my child no longer be in her class and her teaching methods be reviewed by the school board.
I personally would have my child removed from this NUTCASES class room and I would make a huge deal about it. Its a public school, she has NO right to say the things she is saying. I can't believe she has so little sense to keep it up even when confronted by the principle.
I can understand how you feel, I have been working SO HARD on teaching my daughter to be open and loving towards people and enjoy the differences rather then hate and shun. I was raised in a very closed, controlled environment, one that hated and endulged in prejudice in the name of religion.
I would be on fire I would be SO mad if someone had started this with my daughter.

I thought teaching religion was off limits in school? I'd question if christianity will be tought next..
I think I will have my son moved to a different class. Although in this area the fundies are likely to be anywhere, thats the whole problem. Our house is for sale, did I mention? If there was a little sad crying American emoticon smilie I would insert it here....
