If the word 'first' didn't appear in the reasoning, I'd agree with you. It does, however. Women have been historically excluded from politics, so this is about breaking the glass-ceiling.

Do you think the Irish were discriminated against because they were white? By other whites? That wouldn't make any sense. I don't know, but my guess would be that the Irish were discriminated against because of their Catholic religion.

So, I was wrong. Whites have been compared to apes, but not because of their race. Agreed?
