It's not that people don't have issues with the kids being left in the car, it's that they have compassion for a mother who was doing the best she could and it wasn't working. This is woman who needs help, not a jail sentence.
I feel terrible that the mom felt like she had no other choice, but the children have no choices and have to be protected. They are babies. I looked up the weather for that day. It was 81 degrees. And the story said she parked the car in direct sunlight. Those poor babies could have literally roasted to death.
I live in the South, and kids die down here every summer because they were left in a hot car.
If I see a child left alone in a car, I always call the police and stay with the car until they arrive.
I hope this story highlights the help available so other mothers don't make the same mistake. And that she is able to use the money to get back on her feet and reunite with her kids.
Joeymags very much enjoys the majority of harrier's posts and thinks he is a great contributor to this forum. But Joey thinks harrier is way off base on this. Two babies under 2 years old have no way to protect for themselves, and at times people need to interject. Harrier shouldn't look at this like he looks at the role of gov't.
They can interject without involving the government.
Sue the perspective employer for making the suggestion by their manner in application and request for interview, if a mother brought in her toddlers alongside an interview , she would not get the job.
There is no complaint about the toddlers well being and health , therefore we know for a fact the mother would have never left them in the car, but for the pressure from the perspective employer ( for example to go shopping for groceries or clothes for an hour or so...No.) Sue the perspective employer. No mercy.

Dumbest post on a thread full of them. How in the heck is it the prospective employer's fault that she was a child abusing idiot?
If this was in my state and I happend upon the kids,I would stay with them until thier mother returned.... (If the car was open that is which it shouldnt have been but anyway)
If she did get this job,I WOULD HOPE SHE WOULD HIRE SOMEONE TO WATCH THEM!!

Sure, you would just sit there with them while they roasted in the car and died. Wouldn't that just make you the hero?
Maybe this will change the minds of some people.
I do think she should be offered some help rather than be kept in jail but don't think it was some stupid busybody that reported it.
Whether or not she gets the kids back right away depends on the rest of her living circumstances, it says she's homeless...should the kids be?

If they were "roasting" and the door was locked, and one did not have a tool with which to unlock the door, then windows can be broken.
That is what shirts are for, so that glass can be broken without cutting up knuckles.
