I am offended by 'American cheese' as both an American and a cheese lover. It is really neither and its ambiguos title confuses people about the nature of actual real cheese that is American.

Jeez... as if Minnesota or the rest of this country didn't have bigger fish to fry! Pun intended.

Asian carp breed like flies

It is a very real threat to the Great Lakes ecosystem. There are no known predators.

Wouldn't the term 'invasive' be offensive to illegal immigrants? Or since their arrival was not of their own accord/ they were brought here, might they be more accurately termed as 'Anchor Carp'?

The Minnesota State Senate approved a measure Monday that would rename the Asian Carp because they felt it could be offensive to “Asian” people or portray them in a negative light.

They have officially re-named the Asian carp – because it’s from Asia, folks – to the “invasive carp.”

How on earth they think changing the actual name of an animal will somehow make a group of people feel better about themselves is beyond me.

Meanwhile on planet earth, most people will probably continue to call them Asian Carp.

Default Democrats in MN pass bill against "racist" Asian Carp

Liberals Pass Bill To Change ‘Hurtful’ Fish Name, Because RACIST // Mr. Conservative

Quote:
"On Monday of last week, the Minnesota Senate passed a bill from Democrat John Hoffman that changes the name of the Asian carp, which is the appropriate name since it originated in Asia, to the “invasive carp.” He doesn’t want Asians to be offended over the name since the fish has spread across dozens of states and caused widespread destruction to ecosystems ever since being introduced to American waters in 1970"
Seriously democrats? This is what keeps you up at night?

Judging by this and the rantings of Michelle Bachmann it seems someone should be taking a serious look at the water supply in Minnesota. Or maybe it's just the brain-freeze from MN winters?
