Two different versions of that meeting came from each group.

Governments don't try to play up the parts they want to emphasize?

One side is lying..not "emphasizing".

Putin/Obama..that one is a coin toss but I'm going with the Pope and the US "war on Catholics" version for that meeting.

I don't know why this is even important, each side wants to promote their focus. Ever been to a meeting where there were 3 different versions.

Sad but It's easier to believe the Russians than our own leadership that has told us so many lies.
We all know that Pope dude isn't truthful.

There is no creditability coming out of this Administration.
Maybe Obama can EO that say his stories are to be believed.

Why do you think it must be either/or? One account must be entirely truthful, the other must be entirely false?

Much more likely that since each party is a human being with an agenda that each heard what he most wanted to hear...

It's dangerous to deal in such absolutes. It's also completely bogus.

Too much lies come from the american mass media as well, not only from our own leadership.

You have heard of press relations/public affairs offices? These are the people who deal with the press and they all have their own agendas and priorities. Take everything with a grain of salt--these people are paid employees. (Except in Putin's case where they may mysteriously disappear if they give out the wrong information.)
