She can say "what difference does it make" all she wants but she can kiss her presidential chances for 2016 goodby sinc with this discovery that happened under her watch at the State Department. This is criminal what happened and she must be held accountable for the missing money as well as the putative president who was never constitutionally eligible for Article 2 Section 1. Say hello to President Palin.
"Before Linick took office last fall, the State Department had been without an inspector general position for five years—the longest IG vacancy in the government’s history, as noted in The Washington Post. - See more at: http://www.thefiscaltimes.com/Articles/2014/04/04/6-Billion-Goes-Missing-State-Department#sthash.3PLO3gmF.dpuf"
You can thank Republicans in Congress for this one. They have made it a point to delay and prevent positions from being filled which leads to issues like this. Had Republicans not played politics with important inspector positions, we wouldn't have this issue.
False, the president's hands are tied on this situation. It requires Congress to approve of these positions. Personally I think there should be a time limit on how long they can delay an appointment. 5 years is excessive, but not surprised with the "do nothing" Republicans.
Maybe you should look up whether Obama ever nominated someone for he job before blaming he R's for delaying an appointment he never made.
Hmmm, the lessons I'm drawing from the FT article is that it's good to have an IG - after all, he was on this within about 6 months of getting the job - and that whichever people were responsible for the 5-year vacancy should have *their* finances thoroughly examined, and the state dept. is not resisting the IG.
