Which creates resentment and hate, perpetuated for generations.
Most of the time resentment is inevitable and unavoidable when hate is confronted... It's just the way things are. And you know what, the segregationist will get over it one way or another... To not confront ignorance and intolerance is far worse than the resentment that will result from the confrontation...
I don't think segregation is racist. I mean liberals love cities like San Francisco and Seattle, which are segregated cities, yet somehow the most tolerant cities at the same time. How does that work. There must be degrees of segregation, so it must be possible to be segregated and not necessarily be racist.
I'm specifically talking about racial segregation by tradition or law. The segregation that results from gentrification is another topic all together...

Why do you feel you need to confront racism? IF someone wants to be racist, that's their right. IF they want to segregate, that's their white. Why are you confronting them? You're just wasting your time, they are going feel how they want to feel, and do what they want to do.

Again, how does segregation impact your life in any way?

As you can clearly see, that hasn't been working too well.
Oppressing personal freedom, never has a good outcome as intended.

I put a lot of truth in this thread, so I expect all of the high minded white liberals to flee. But the bottomline, the government can't destroy racism, only people can. People have to decide for themselves if they want to like someone different from them. The thing is, people who are so pro-government tend to think there is always a magical government policy for every situation. The bottomline, there isn't one. Not every problem can be solved by government. And no amount of force is going to make people feel any differently. That's the bottomline. This segregation should be a valuable lesson. You need to put trust back into people, and not government
That's fine. I can't see where integration had any real benefit for black students. And at the end of the day, schools are still extremely segregated anyway. So I can't see what problems integrating schools solved.
In the Brown V Topeka Board of Education ruling it was deemed that segregation was psychologically damaging to black children, that is children growing up believing that there was something wrong with being black, a condition they have control over.

LOL. Psychological damaging? Makes 0 sense. It takes two sides to be segregated. Why wasn't segregation equally psychologically damaging towards white students?
Now I know how you're going to respond. You're probably going to say something like "blacks had the disadvantage and worse schools".
However this isn't true. Many blacks who went to segregate schools were pretty much equal in education with their white counterparts. Enough credible economist and social scientist have shown this. Even many blacks who were around back then are still alive and will actually admit that they had better schooling then their kids, who were forced into integration. I'm a black man who is fortunate to have grand parents who lived during that time.
Also when schools were integrated, were there any additional studies that empirically showed that the mental condition of blacks improved? I'm willing to bet that study doesn't exist.
Clearly that bogus ruling was part of an agenda to force integrate the schools. And all integration really did was destroy the black community. And to be honest with you, they only integrated America so white corperations could get black money. The problem with segregation, blacks had a lot of spending power, and were only spending it with black business owners. That was a lot of American dollars not going to white corporations at the time. So don't be surprised if that was the real reason behind integration.
