Most kids cannot walk to school, anymore. Or home for lunch. And unlike the 1920's we now know that letting food sit in a locker for 4 hours is not a great idea. And a whole lot of parents simply would send their kid's to school empty handed. I know this first hand.

I also know that there are plenty of parents on the free lunch program who have expensive cars and boats, etc. They are of all denominations, colors and political persuasions. Again, I know this first hand.

I'm saying that even though a child cannot go home for lunch (which is a huge time waster anyway) there are plenty of lunch options (and ways to keep them cold) for parents who give a darn. The fact that some parents don't care, is because of learned behavior. They have been trained on the welfare gravy train that if I don't take care of my own child, then someone else will.
