It affects everyone. The minimum wage worker gets the $10, rightfully the guy making $10 because he has more experience and is more valuable to the company wants $13, the guy making $13 wants $16, etc. Those increases will be reflected in the price of the product and the minimum wage worker is back to square one.

If you want to get ahead the only way to do that is increase the value of your labor.

I hope you realize that minimum wage jobs are not meant to be a career path. Fast food is not supposed to be a career. It is for high school and college kids to make some extra $$ while they are pursuing a different trade. I think there should be enough welfare so that people do not starve to death and so people have a basic roof over their heads but we are a capitalist country and free enterprise should be promoted here.

I don't know why you liberals and Democrats want to punish those who work hard and start businesses. It is enough of a burden to force Obozocare on them, now you want to further burden them with the minimum wage increase. Many businesses are already struggling to survive even without Obozocare. Now you add Obozocare, and y'all also want to add the minimum wage increase. And like I said before, American businesses should be more than just "surviving". If someone starts a business, it is reasonable for them to expect a profit. That much be beyond the comprehension of the liberal Democrat mind.

Sadly, welcome to 2014. there arent all the high paying jobs anymore. So while our GDP may have doubled in the last generation, the increase has not gone to the hard working folks. Its gone to the money men.

So nowadays more and more often the minimum wage jobs ARE a career path for many.

Thats coming no matter what. Seriously. Trying to fear monger about the inevitable? Its why I argue for a basic income.

Also automated warehouse robots, and look at google, you don't think they bought all these robotics companies lately for nothing do you?

Good! They compromised on healthcare and instead of a 1 payer system we got what we have now...stop trying to please the republicans and their rich backers and just push this through. MILLIONS depend on it.

Oh and for those that say it will destroy jobs, that lie has been debunked.

So when Republicans won't compromise with Democrats then they are the Party of No and obstructionists. But when Democrats won't compromise with Republicans, that's a great thing and they should just force their way through.

Oh, and you seem to have forgotten, but the healthcare law received 0 Republican votes. So there was no compromise there.

And the problem with single payer isn't Republicans. It's the constitution. Any power which is not expressly granted to the federal government is reserved to the states and the people. The power to run a national healthcare system is not granted to the federal government, therefore it is unconstitutional. I realize you liberals don't care about the following the law unless you like the law, but you only got Obamacare through the Courts by a single vote. You never would have gotten single payer.

What makes you think that a healthcare system is unconstitutional? When did the supreme court say that? I mean...wouldnt that mean medicare and medicaid are? Please. Article 1 section 8.

Isn't it interesting how when the liberals compromise, agreeing to a rise in the minimum wage instead of mandating a living wage, or agreeing to adopt a right-wing approach to healthcare instead of the single-payer or universal healthcare approaches they've been proposing for decades, right-wingers refuse to admit that it is a compromise. It seems that their go-to tactic is to feign ignorance. They're really good at it.

They didn't compromise on anything.
The Dems have put forward bills to raise the min wage annually and it never leaves committee.
And this is in the Senate where the Dems rule.

Denying reality doesn't add to your credibility - rather the opposite.
