You know that isn't true. That is a twisting of the statistics.

What does that tell you about the future of America ?

Tell the Census Bureau they are twisting statistics.

You know exactly which stat I'm talking about. One of your con buddies posted that women on welfare had 3X as many kids as other women. The actual stat (from the CB) is that women on welfare are 3X more likely to have had a baby in the past year. This makes sense b/c in most cases one can only stay on welfare a few years after having a baby. So once your kids get older, you have to get off welfare.

Why in the hell do we look for ways to reward those who knowingly have kids, yet can barely take care of themselves? Most of these situations arent people who accidentally get pregnant. (and let's be honest, you dont ever "accidentally" get pregnant. We all know the possible out come of sex). Giving these people handouts and rewards for having kids is like rewarding your dog for getting himself into trouble or making a mess. Now people not just expect it, but they want more and more. And if you dont want to do more, you hate the poor or hate the children.

Personal responsibility no longer exists. People are afraid to say on national tv that you should not have kids if you can't afford it, and you should no longer be rewarded.
When, in the ENTIRE history of humanity, has being poor stopped people from having kids? Do you know what countries today have the highest number of births per capita? Hint hint: it's not the ones topping the OECD.

It's about trying to end the cycle. If you cut the opportunity for these kids to succeed, the cycle begins again, these kids grow up with little to no education, they struggle to get a job, end up on benefits or worse in prison. You end up with more who are trapped in the endless cycle of poverty. However, if we provide these kids with opportunites for them to break out poverty, it helps minimmise the issue. Yeah, it's annoying that some poor people have kids they can't support, but many, you musn't forget, have them before they hit hard times.

Simple. They don't use birth control. You would be amazed that so many young girls/women think they can only get pregnant when they want to.

Still waiting for someone to show when there was a time in this country when the poor didn't have more kids than everyone else.

It's always been that way. ALWAYS.
This is the truth OP. Also, what is wrong with having a pre-k program?? You do know that even middle income and wealthy people can use them right? We have one here in GA and everyone can use it. Many of us middle income people are thrilled about it since we no longer have to pay out the wazoo for an extra year of daycare for the kids before kindergarten.

The fact is no matter how much the right tries to will it into existence folks, and especially unmarried folks are not going to stop having sex. So obstructing contraception access and sex education, is probably not the way to go in reducing child poverty.

This is also true. If you really want to do something about paying for poor people's kids, then you should make sure they have access to condoms and all sorts of chemical birth control at free birth control and safe sex clinics IMO. Ones where teens don't need their parents permission to go also.

Medicaid for pregnant women is very easy to get. Many middle income families who do not qualify for any other assistance can get Medicaid for a pregnancy and usually WIC (which even military families qualify for). This occurred because many children were being born so sick that their parents couldn't pay the medical bills and those parents, who could afford the birth without insurance, didn't have the means to pay and so the hospitals and Ob/gyns were losing money due to lack of payment an bankruptcy.

My mom got pregnant with my youngest brother back in the late 80s before the Medicaid free for all pregnant women began. She didn't get prenatal care because she had lost her job prior to finding out she was pregnant (fwiw she was married but did not have insurance at that time neither she nor my stepfather). She developed gestational diabetes and she didn't know until it was time to deliver my brother. She and my stepfather had enough saved to cover a regular vaginal birth, around $2K at the time, but she ended up needing a C-section and my brother was born very sick due to the gestational diabetes and he had to be hospitalized for over a week. The bill was over $100K and they eventually filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy and had it discharged. This was very common prior to the criteria for Medicaid expanding to cover higher income pregnant women. Most of the women who use it for their births are only on it for the pregnancy and the 6 weeks following and that is it.

The very best way for the very able-bodied to get free money and never have to work for a living.

It's such a great deal, many illegals come over to have kids and beat the immigration laws AND get the many welfare handouts.

Yet more people are on welfare handouts like food stamps than ever.

It's fine if the so-called poor will actually WORK to support kids but having kids shouldn't be a way to the life of leisure and never having to worry about going to work. Having kids also gets illegals a free pass around the immigration laws --- and so as a result 8% of births are now to impoverished illegals.

We're importing poverty which is stupid.
