Is the USA too busy focusing on equality instead of excellence?
They are both trending up. "Men running households" meaning the domestic functioning of the home, not the breadwinner of the home. Will either reach half? I doubt it since women are more naturally suited for the domestic duties than men are and vice versa for businesses.
I don't think excellence is being sacrificed so far and won't be as long as these trends are not shimmied from their natural levels by arbitrary policies.
I think the US does focus on equality over excellence just look at affirmative action. Now some may argue that affirmative action lifts up just as many women as it does minority men which it does but at what cost? Why should a black man be able to score less on say a state police exam than a white man. It is all about opportunity BUT don't we have a black man in the White House? I think white, black, hispanic man or woman should all be held to the same standards. Obviously most women cannot do as many pushups as most men but I say most women given a chance are actually smarter than most men.
The one thing that holds women back in the world is the ability to have babies. There are some women that can balance a career and children but more often the mother would rather be a mother.
I would like to see a world where excellence is a top priority be it a man or woman, it should be who is best for the job. We need to stop the PC approach that is holding us back and simply pick the best person for the job.

Interestingly, the women who are working are not telling the men who are at home that they are doing harder jobs than the women and that if they were being paid, it would be hundreds of thousands of dollars. Wonder where all of those arguments went? Oh, right.
