VA is not a blue state. It can switch back quickly. The key is northern virginia suburbs which often decide elections. Tend to be more affluent voters who aren't tied to democratic base like the south eatern part of the state in Hampton roads and Richmond.
VA is blue now for POTUS due to socially liberal NOVA.
Was there even insurance when the Constitution was written.
I believe there was, I think Lloyd's of London was in business by then, insuring cargo, and maybe various aristocrats for one thing or another. But certainly there was no medical insurance for the general public. Can't do the google thing right now, sorry.

You know Obama is in sad shape when those on the left keep shouting
"He's not one of ours"..
Why anyone would want to be president is beyond me. They make the most difficult decisions in their lifetime and are always crucified by those that oppose the decision. It happens with every president.
ACA didnt kill the old healthcare system, it just taxes some, to subsidize others.. other than that, not much has changed.
It also got rid of pre-existing condition clauses, extended the age that youths could stay on their parents insurance plan to the age of 26, and makes it so that health insurance companies have to show valid reasons for large increases in their premiums.
Obamacare did a lot more than subsidizing.
Yes, our old healthcare system is dead. We won't be going back to that atrocious and disgusting system ever.
