I have kids of my own and I'm not "one of those creeps", but part of me wants to see holier than though Chris Hansen caught in some sort of sting himself. THAT I would watch on TV.
I don't see what is enjoyable about watching sick people's lives destroyed on television....there's nothing positive out of it at all...the only peoiple who would enjoy watching this are losers enjoying seeing someone who's now worse off than them. The whole idea of it is revolting from top to bottom. I have to see sick perverts going looking for underage sex, and I have to see arrogant cops getting a kick out of baiting people, and I have to see a holier than thou d-bag reporter making a career out of the lot of it.
I actually don't agree with the sex offender registry. I think it's unconstitutional and recent studies have suggested they aren't necessarily more likely to reoffend than other criminals. I think putting a "scarlet letter" on the makes them more likely to reoffend too, since being rejected by society would make offenders care less about offending again. Worst of all you're putting people who peed in a bush because they couldn't find a bathroom in the same category as someone who raped 8 women.
If people feel like a person is beyond redemption they might as well just throw them in prison for life because being a registered sex offender is life ruining anyway.

If that was the case, then everybody's head would be lobbed off for every single offense. If there are kids actually doing this, why aren't parents monitoring their children's online activity?

It's not a big of a problem that the media makes it out to be. I mean, come on, every suburbanite mom is so scared of letting Little Johnny and Susie go outside and play because the big, scary man with square framed glasses and hippy long hair in the ice cream van is going to take them away, all of them! These guys on "to catch a predator" never were gonna actually do anything. They just got curious and wanted to check out the house they were invited to because they made some sexual comment and the decoy said
"Ok can you come Saturday?"
So it's really harsh he was likely not gonna even do anything but visit and say hi to the teenage kid...not do anything to harm the kid
And the intentions could be 99% non-sexual and 1% sexual and poor guy gets worst luck with the sting operation
We are discussing age, not offering sex for money.
In TCAP, no one involved was under the age of 18 - and the crime is arranging to have sex with a minor.
Without the involvement of a minor, no crime has been committed.
