Republican, Democrat - all I see is corrupt
Ok, I see a lot of posts bashing the actions of key Republicans. I see a lot of posts bashing the actions of key Democrats.
Here's my question. Since not all republicans think the same and not all democrats think the same - why does the "Well, this person is a republican and did these bad things. I won't vote Republican!" ideal still enter into these discussions?
Here's what I see when I look into our government and politicians - a group of children who thinks the other has "cooties".
It took the Virginia Senate almost a year to agree on a transportation bill because Democrats shot down the bills of Republicans - and vice versa. During such time, no fixes could be made to any interstates. No potholes could be filled. Construction on I-64 was left half-done. It was disgusting.
Personally, I don't see why we need political parties anymore. So-called Democrats have Republican views. So-called Republicans have Democratic views. And they're all corrupt.
Why don't we, collectively, get over the key people of each political party - and see how corrupt the entire political system has become?

Sorry, I don't buy it. Corrupt is a strong word. If I didn't think there were good men running for office I would not even bother to vote. And I would pretty much stop paying attention to the political scene.
Saying that "all politicians are corrupt" is known as prejudice. Just as surely as if you stated all Muslims are terrorists!
I know there are good people running for office. Mike Hukabee is a good decent and honorable man. Many people say Ron Paul is admirable. But there are many more.
I am not willing to give up on my country. I think it is sad if people feel all our leaders are crooked and dishonest. What a futile way of seeing things.

Remember, its all about making the money.
Anyone who thinks that people are are multi millionaires shut down their multi mullion dollar companies, so these people can run for Congress and make 1/10th of what they made before out of their want to help America.. is a full..

Most politicians are corrupt because of influences from Big Business. However there are rare few exceptions such as Ron Paul. It all depends on their morality rather than their political talk... if they have a shady history like John Edwards' frivolous lawsuits or Giulianli's multiple affairs... it stands that if they were ever in office, corruption would be their number one priority. As to democrats and republicans, you are correct, there is very little distinction between the two. I summize that Big Business has a distinct interest so that the two parties are actually molding into a single party that is in line with Big Business. That is they favor corruption. It is the people who don't go along with party lines that holds still the core values. So in short, yes there is corruption and yes, we continue to vote them into office, and yes, there comes a point in time when it will all fall down. The government can only handle so much corruption before it falls... who do we blame? I blame the American people... we don't do anything until its too late...

First of all it isn't a matter of right or left it is distraction from thought. It is also matter of further distilling everything the for American people into simple black and white binary terms. It is the best way to keep people stupid, simplistic, and their tiny minds focused on this bazaar Theodor Seuss Geisel The Butter Battle Book manner of thinking. While the masses play the role of Yooks and the Zooks, politics goes on as usual and very little if anything changes.
Keep in mind who put these corrupt people into office in the first place, they are called voters. Mix equal parts ignorance, partisanship, and apathy, and bake in the oven of indifference and rampant consumerism and wa la.. you get what you see today.

Well, Huckabee is an idiot, so that doesn't really help his case.

To think about it, I've voted since the day I was legal to. The sad part is, I've held these beliefs about our government long before the almighty-18th birthday.
And now, I can vote. I'm trying to at least make a semi-stand against a corrupt system. I currently have 37 who are planning on voting for me.

I never said all politicians were corrupt - I said that the political system is corrupt. One or two non-corrupt politicians aren't going to be able to fix an entire system.

Calling a candidate an "idiot" is really not productive to any discussion, and does nothing to further the debate.
What qualificataions do you use to determine if someone is an idiot? Maybe if you shared these we could better understand where you are coming from.
