Correct. New technology means safer, quicker, more efficient and cheaper construction. Until you get the government involved. The government is much larger and has so many more regulations than in 1963 so it forces the costs up. They violate every law of economics and things get more expensive, and people make excuses for them.

You should have told them to make sure it doesn't get buried then. Of course heck others will pay to fix er all up.......maybe. Or it will just go away and another tunnel will be dug alongside? lol
I bet you liberals would pay for folks do dig a hole on one side of a field and then dig one on the other and be happy the dirt is just being moved. Well YOU wouldn't pay for it. After all the permits and regs were taken care of and the contract we all would at some point. Fill a hole........move on.

Unlike you, I have been following this project long before they even began construction.
It's actually a great idea. If you've ever been on the Seattle waterfront, you know an elevated four-lane hi way runs right over the top of it. When finished (and it WILL get finished), Seattle will have a terrific new ped-friendly waterfront. Just like San Francisco, which tore down an earthquake-damaged freeway to open up its waterfront years ago.
But I guess the wingers think it's a bad idea, because the boring machine is a Democrat, or something?

So you have no idea why they are digging a tunnel, the different options that they looked at before picking this option, or anything at all about this project other than it is a boring machine that currently is stalled.
