Liberal billionaire Tom Steyer insisted Tuesday that he’s not the left’s version of the Koch brothers.
“That is not something I embrace. I think there are real distinctions between the Koch brothers and us,” Steyer said in an interview with POLITICO and The Washington Post taped for C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers,” which will air on Sunday.
This is laughable. His money is incorruptible, I suppose.
"He's [Obama] going to have a body of work on energy and the environment that is not going to be totally dominated by Keystone," said Steyer, a staunch opponent of constructing the pipeline from Canada’s oil sands to the Texas Gulf Coast.
But, Steyer's money being offered to Democrats if they oppose the Pipeline (100's of millions) will have no influence, I suppose. And Obama is going to be rational about this, and not be politically motivated. Sure.
"Steyer rejected the comparison some have made between him and the conservative billionaire Koch Brothers, whom Democrats have sought to turn into midterm bogeymen. He chuckled when asked whether there are similarities and argued that the Koch brothers are much more self-interested." Tom Steyer: Keystone decision won’t define Obama’s environmental legacy
OH, the Koch brothers are much more "self interested?" Really? How so, Tom?
"The Koch Brothers, and their reputation are considered nothing more than collateral damage by the vicious, ruthless and power-hungry Reid, who has his own set of billionaire brothers who line his pockets."
There are distinctions between Steyer and the Koch brothers: Steyer obviously funds only noble causes, because he agrees with and supports the left's goals. Therefore, Steyer is good.
Steyer wants to stop the Keystone pipeline and the jobs that go with it. The Koch's want the pipeline and the thousands of jobs that go with it and the growth in our economy. I wonder who all the people who are out of work will support?

Let's wreck the environment and push people off their land, violating their property rights for temporary jobs and they are temporary. Most will be laid off in a few short years

If the pipe goes through people's property I hope the government gives them lots of money for use of the land.
The jobs may go away but the money for transporting the oil will give our economy a huge boost that will never go away.
The oil pipeline in Alaska was said it would ruin the environment but it hasn't at all.

How does the pipeline "wreck the environment?"
I find it odd that you would be concerned about "push[ing] people off their land" (if that would even be the case), when leftists support government "eminent domain" laws which have pushed many people off their property in many parts of the country, when the government has deemed that some other entity could put it to better use.
The oil is currently being transported by truck and rail, which is far more dangerous, and riskier to the environment (there is virtually no risk to the environment with a pipeline).
So, is it better to have a few thousand jobs for a period of time, building the pipeline, or no jobs at all for any period? Do any jobs on such projects (building a highway, a skyscraper, an airport, a shopping mall) last forever? Should we not build anything, because, after all, those jobs are only temporary? That is pretty fuzzy logic, don't you think? Some people (typically construction people) spend their entire lives going from job to job. That is how it is.

Jobs created by the stimulus were temporary but we were told those were beneficial. We only had to spend a trillion dollars to create them.

The government has no business giving anyone a penny.
