However; I will say that this is almost like when we were younger (teenage years), and one of us would swipe beers from the fridge or a bottle from the liquor cabinet. At any rate, like alcohol it's up to the parents (or in this case the grandparents as it was their weed) to do a better job of securing the stuff.

a better punishment would be to take every little electronic device from him for a few months, that would be far more effective now days

As far as fighting in school is concerned I have only my memories. In grade and Jr. high I was a skinny kid with thick glasses. Some of the less informed bullies liked to use me as a punching bag at the start of the school year. As I couldn't hit back without risking my expensive glasses I developed an very effective and painful form of self defense that I used to great effect. The bullies expected me to take a beating but not to fight back and leave them with separated joints and broken bones. I was nearly kicked out of school until I explained, with witnesses, that I was defending myself.

After puberty hit me like a runaway truck I put on about 50 pounds of muscle and had the damnedest time not becoming a bully myself.

Great story Greg! Glad you were able to eventually give it back! At any rate, yes face shots aren't the only way to take someone down. Yes if delivered correctly you can do some damage, but a lot of people go for the face due to the cosmetic damage, and bragging rights such as "wow dude look what I did to him!" A knife hand attack to the throat, a well directed punch to the solar plexus, or a kick to the knee or the nuts, is at times much more effective.

Yes that too. We use the threat of taking his ipod away as well, when he gets out of line. We've had to do it a few times too.

Man I yank my girls phone away for being a "well you know what" .................she screams the whole night away. I just laugh. It is sad though. Poor kids. Progress. I still make em go out in the yard and play ball. They think I am crazy......nothing like playing ball though. Don't matter what ball either.

Thankfully my kid does prefer to go outside and play. He likes playing ball, but is also into the Nerf guns and pretending to play war. What 11 year old didn't do that back in the day as well? Sometimes though he'll try to sneak the ipod outside, and I have to put the kibosh on it, unless he is only sitting on the patio. He broke his last one. He took it to school against our request not to do so, and ended up getting the screen cracked. Eventually it stopped working. So this time, with the new one he got for his birthday we told him no way in hell is he taking it to school, and I don't care what other kids parents let them do! They're not my kids, he is. So far so good. Though he did take his charger to let his friend use. I told him don't do that again either. While I appreciate where his heart is at, sometimes you have to just say no. Those things aren't cheap, and if this one gets ruined that will be it. No more.

4th graders caught dealing pot at Colorado elementary school - CBS News

Gates said a student who was not involved alerted school officials that a student sold marijuana to other students on Monday, and that on Tuesday a student tried to trade edible marijuana for some of the student seller's version of the drug.
are you telling me that never in the history of the united states before deregulation 4th graders haven't sold prohibited items including booze, pornography, and pot?

LOL. Kid owns you. Mine do too. My girl has had I think now four cell phones. She breaks em all the time. Charger.......hell I've had to buy about ten of em.............just so I have one. LOL. You only got one though so can corner em and they don't have any help. Kids are wonderful though............best thing you could ever ask for. They do drive you nuts at times but that is what kids do. Once you realize that all is well.............of course my girl is a hard nut to crack. LOL

Oh absolutely. My son has his moments of being a pain in the a**, but he is the most important thing in my life. I will always have his back. Can't say that about too many dads these days. He may not always care for my decisions, but I'm hoping one day he'll thank me for it.

Yep, there they were, trying to make a living, when suddenly the saviors of the galaxy came in and blew up their job site. Their family members should have sued.

This technique works wonderfully well with my daughters. They don't have phones yet, but they do have our old tablets and they each have their own computer (side effect of having a techie geek for a father). When they screw up, they lose tablet, computer, and television. Bad behavior has been majorly curtailed since I started that punishment system.
