They two parties can't help but make asses of themselves when they have power.
There is a morsel of truth in that.

For example, Michigan hasn't had primaries yet, but they look at Terri Lynn Land as an individual - former SoS where she was highly successful, she has raised more money, tapped into less money so far, has polled "okay", etc...that is why they give her a 58% chance in a relatively blue state when it comes to statewide senate elections.
They aren't looking at the individuals until the Primary is over for that particular state. It's right there in the link to by the OP.

The election this year will be much like a person on the death bed rallying just before they die. Is it any wonder that the Tea Party has been so adamant against the IPAB. They want to stay alive at any cost...the taxpayers be dammed.
Those 72 year olds were once the free living hippies. As people get older they have less desire to see others take what they have. Its simple human nature.

The Republicans also had a <made up percentage> chance of winning the national election in 2012. How did that work out?

Actually people become more liberal as they age.

Conservatism is a brand of brainwashing. As one becomes more mature they learn to think for themselves.

I think you will find most upper-income folks accept that higher tax burdens are necessary for a developed society. The ones that don't are either greedy or still believe in the primitive conservative logic that taxation is supposed to "reward" and "punish" individuals based on life choices.

That is a much easier one to figure out, currently the Democrats are closer to 270 than the Republicans, and the Democrats have a combination of ways to win while the Republicans have to basically win every swing state to win a presidential election right now.
