I'm a childless male. Being the victim of sex offense is highly unlikely for me. I'd much rather know where people who have been cited for disturbing the peace live.

Then I can avoid those locations because I hate noise.
Here in portland/Hillsboro you can do that, they map police incidents for you. Want to know where the assaults occur? No problem!

My neighborhood has incidents with runaways being caught nearby, and someone had their car burglarized a couple years back.

There have also been cases where someone got put on one of these registeries for entirely non-sexual acts. Like a guy who takes a leak in a back alley behind a dumpster but the cops say "You had your pecker out while peeing" so they make him register. It's really a stupid system which is enforced differently in every jurisdiction so all it takes is one DA who wants to make a name for himself for being tough on crime and you get massive abuses of the system. The same thing goes for three strikes.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

They put the level of offense "mild, moderate, severe" with different colors marking the severity. They also include whether it involved a minor. I'm guessing the mild would fall in the category of an 18 year old dating a 16 year old if that really happens? Can't believe they register for that though.

Those maps are police calls to locations. They don't put an "X" on the map for all your past infractions upon moving into a new house.

I was just being a smartass anyway as I'm sure you know. It's stupid to have certain convicts report where they live after their time is up.

Off topic: those maps are pretty awesome. Fantastic tool for moving to a new area.

Why not the death penalty for these crazy pigs, if it's going to be used for anyone?

People are too dumb to know the difference between mild, moderate, and severe. 99% of Americans think everybody on a sex offender list is classed as severe.

I'm for doing away with special conditions for so-called Sex-Offenders....after they complete prison and parole. If someone does something so bad, the sentence should reflect that fact....after that, they should be free like other offenders. Yes, have the same freedoms as the 23 year old, who slaughtered 2 innocent humans as a Yute.......and it now free.

I hate the blanket "sex offender" label. A guy picking up a hooker is a sex offender, but that doesn't make him a threat to your children. Limit "sex offender" label to child predators.

He can also get the scarlet letter by having nudie pictures on his computer or tablet downloaded for free from the Internet. Like the majority of Americans do.
