Do you believe the American media?
I have to admit, if not for the internet I would have no other choice but to believe the bullcrap our official media sources tell us. Freedom of Information; what a wonderful thing!. Too bad we don't have it in this country tho. This is the reason I oppose U.S. control of the internet, I fear losing my last lifeline to reality!.

Two way street there, it opens up the discussions quite a bit but there is a LOAD of factual misinformation out there.

I find what is shown as news to be somewhat misleading.
Once you start to investigate a news story more you find a lot more that th emedia 'forgot' to mention...
But ALL the media is that way, not just the US media.

Be reminded that our media survives by selling commercial time on their stations, so maybe they are sensitive to issues that their major benefactors are concerned about. I watch Fox News as I believe they are "fair and balanced" and keep away from CNN which I think is just another left of center station. I too rely on the internet for facts.
I once heard a famous saying (not sure who said it or made it famous) - "Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see.
My two cents worth for you.

If you want to see a biased news source look no further than the BBC....
Yet some think it a good example of an unbiased news source.

Is our news programming biased, yeah, no surprise there. Can anyone show me something that is reported on daily with complete and absolute objectivity? No, you can't unless of course you are either God or time.
If people can't read between the lines, detect the subtle yet ever present use of language and image to steer or guide a person to a given conclusion then you really should not have a TV, computer, or pick up the newspaper.
If Fox or CNN claims that an airliner just crashed in Norway, do you believe it? I probably would. If they then claim that Dennis Kucinich contacted his brother in law on Alpha Centari and they used a death ray to bring it down, well then, I would change the channel from Fox to HGTV, shake my head and say to myself, oh Dennis, you card.
Remember, the people selling toothpaste are the same ones selling you your Presidential candidate.

FOX is "fair and balanced"? I guess I shouldn't be surprised that so many people have bought into that corporate slogan. FOX is just as biased as every other news source. The difference between FOX and CNN is that it has a right-wing slant instead of left-wing. They're both equally misleading. Anyone who doesn't believe that is incredibly naive.

Most news sources dont "lie" to us, so yes, I believe what they tell me. That being said, you need to remember that they admit facts on purpose to prove their adjenda.
I think in addition to this, most people tv channels try to pass off commentaries as "news". Its no wonder people are confused on whats real news and what isnt.
