A lot of people have run out of UI and have simply fallen off the map. If the labor market was healthy, they would be reentering.
That's the whole point, the labor market is improving. Layoffs and firings are slowing and new jobs are being added. The prior 3 months to April saw an increase in labor participation and dropped in April when schools across the country had their Spring/Easter breaks.
But by all means, continue to live in the conservative alternative reality where any good economic news is instantly blocked out by labor participation. There's always the Benghazi "scandal" to cling to as a backup plan.
Claims based on the smoke and mirrors of a house of cards.
This is not a political issue, the fiscal operating debt, economy, poverty, unemployment are in bad shape, with zero economic growth, expanding the number of Americans in poverty and a dwindling labor force, these are not political, and sure as hell nothing to freaking smile about.
How many times will we see articles written with the line "adding to signs the economy is gaining momentum?" We've been hearing that drum beat for six years and here we are, stuck in an economic rut, with zero economic momentum. Even blowing $7 trillion in new deficit spending - we still have not turned things around. Mayhaps the new federal laws, regulations, policies and tactics of the past six years are not the way forward? Hmmm?
You do realize that people who cannot find jobs and who's unemployment run out are not counted in the unemployment numbers.
If the economy was doing well the labor participation rate would not be at 40-50 year lows.
If the economy was doing well people would not be underemployed, working at Starbucks when 6 years ago they were making 60k a year.
Winter Sucks when it comes to understanding labor rate data as it relates to American Macroeconomics. Couple that with being a teacher and now you understand the problem with Americas education system.

I'm not an expert of this stuff, or claim to be, but people need to take off the blinders for a bit and do just a little bit of reading to realize we are being feed a load of crap.
The liberals might learn something if they stopped carrying water for Obama on every single talking point.
What for? According to you libs, there's plenty of jobs out there now, and you're pointing and laughing at Republicans over it. So, no need for welfare, let's get rid of it since the Dems have been so successful bringing back enough jobs that the claims are the lowest in seven years. Right?
No need for hand outs anymore, strike up the band, the Dems are going to kill the need for welfare with their fabulous job creations and economic control! Woo hoo!

Isn't it interesting that the opposition, no matter which side they're on, declare the unemployment numbers never mean what they seem on the surface.
If it were a GOPer in the Whitehouse, most detractors posting here would be doing the happy dance.
Republicans are born hypocrites. They're not the only ones but they are the most conspicuous as they are the most consistently dishonest.
