If government regulation drives up rents 50 percent, how are the affected renters in control of their own destiny?

Businesses who do not serve their customers well will go out of business. Unless you are mandated by law like Obamacare. They don't have to serve well, you are mandated to use their service. If there is a problem have fun going through all the red tape to try to get justice. Look at the V.A., a government run hospital and many died and it took a whistle blower to bring it out.

If everyone could do that, wouldn't the country be on track economically?

Any able body person CAN make a good living.

Of course, the disabled was not included in my stance.

Yes, that's basically what happened. People wanted to buy a home when they couldn't afford it. Democrats saw a chance to get votes by forcing banks to ease qualifications. Because qualifications, (my cat could have been an asset) more people were buying. When demand increase so does price. The middle class who prior would have been able to afford a home, was forced to buy at higher prices.

I always say when government gets involved and uses its power to force things always cause problems. Look at school loans, it's the same thing. Now our middle class had to take on huge debt to go to college.

Manipulation done in the name of helping the poor, what has government done? They made more poor.

Don't change the subject. You know regulations are there to protect consumers from fraudulent businesses, there is thousands of the shut down by the government every year. You want to get rid of these regulations?
Are you insane?
