Well. First, global climate change is a bad thing for us as a species.

Secondly, this is an economic opportunity. With the cuts back in coal plants and the transition to cleaner coal and natural gas, we will transition out of a CO2 economy. That will make it cheaper with time to do those things. Just like toasters were 20 dollars. Now you can buy one for less then 5 bucks at Walmart.

Do you think the chinese people want to breath sooted air? Their coal is turning the country into a scene out of the 1800s in England. People there will demand a cleaner environment, and the government will listen after a while.

So this isn't about global warming. Its about economics. Some people want to stick to the same power types they knew as a child, others want to move on. I say we move on.

You know, facts don't change whether you believe in them or not.

Innovation will happen whether you 'believe' in the reasons behind it or not.

I bet you would have said 'this internal combustion engine is being forced on me! I'm sticking with the horse!'

".By the way China’s per capita emissions are below the world average and about one-fifth those of the United States."

"Per capita"...
RIGHT!!!
And just how many Chinese citizens ARE there to spread that pollution around?
How many citizens are there in the United States to spread the pollution around?
What is the statistic per 100,000 people? That might be just a LITTLE bit more meaningful!

They also want heat in their homes, a great deal of the pollution is from residential coal heating. You can look at other countries that faced the same issue, London was notoriously bad in the 50's. This was never a big issue here because the primary source for coal heating was anthracite. It produces no soot when burned.

That is not the correct question, in this case you're chained to your friend and you're going off the bridge whether you want to or not.

BTW, have the Global Whatever hysterics yet found any proof that man's activites have had any effect of Climate Change?

Or is their 40-year 0-for-everything record of failure still intact?

Transition out of a CO2 economy? How? BURNING ANYTHING creates CO2 no matter how "clean it is". It is a natural by product of combustion! Clean coal and NG still produce the same amount of CO2 as the always did. The "clean" part of coal has NOTHING to do with CO2. Should we stop breathing?
