I think we have failed to communicate here. I'm arguing that the children are generally clueless about this controversy. Keep up!
In Idaho, perhaps. In Hawaii... it's been all over the news and generating a lot of controversy. Parents DON'T like being undermined by the state. It sets up horrendous problems in that parents can no longer effectively discipline their children, as who the hell knows what pajamaboy onesie liberals will deem to be too harsh, next.
How many 8 year olds, if kicked out of a car roughly a mile from their house, would even be able to find their way home? Are kids that age aware enough of their surrounds that they could navigate that?
Not knowing where the hell he was going might explain why people found this particular 8 year old sitting and crying on the side of the highway.
I've read 5 or 6 different articles about this, and nothing I've read at your link (which I'd read previously) changes my understanding of what happened.
So I'll ask again: tell me - using your words - how my description and understanding is wrong.

Not my event to tell. I'm relying on the actual participants' relating of events, and on locals' reactions to same. Seems Hawaiians support the Dad, and are outraged that the state is undermining their ability to discipline their own children.

Huh? You said my factual understanding of the situation was wrong.
I stated that this dad: "kicked [his son] out of a car roughly a mile from their house"
Again, I'll ask, how did it not happen that way??????????
