Are you sure is only 1 billion? 1 billion is less than a drop in the bucket for a 3.5 trillion or 4 trillion federal budget. That's 3,500 billions. Or about 10 billions a day.

Obama asks for $1B to boost US military in Europe

Didn't Margaret Thatcher say that it was absurd for 300 Million Europeans to rely on defense from 200 Million Americans against Russia?

Today there are over 500 Million people living in the European Union with a $17 Trillion economy compared to 144 Million living in Russia with a $2.5 Trillion economy. The EU does not even include the UK, which has an economy equal to that of Russia. Why can't they spend their own money to defend themselves?

The European Union should start taking a bigger role in easing their own tensions against Russia the geo-political foe -- unless they want to pay us the $1 Billion for the extra protection, they should do it themselves. We waste so much money being "world police" while European countries spend their money on their own people and not their military.

Obama grows a spine??????

Throwing money at Europe not the solution. The US should supple Europe, not carry them.

But its good for the US Economy with the expenditure of new weapons and troops.

Obama is so shallow he is not even credible any more. I think one too many "Red Lines"???

I think he trying to pull a Regan?

Default Romney and Palin was Correct.

Obama team must be going into a tail spin thinking that Gov Romney was correct in the Foreign Policy debate.

Sara Palin was correct too?

I bet the new PR guy is losing sleep over this?

Too bad we are not Saying "President Romney"!

I don't like Russia, but they are not a threat for Poland or the Baltic countries. That's a figment of NATO generals, right wing US politicains or the defence industry.

Please spend the money to reduce the poverty in the U.S. or build more parks. A lot of Americans are still to day stuck in the era of the cold war.
I agree, too bad Obama is sputtering.

1) The UK is indeed in the EU.

2) No, the UK economy is not the equal of the Russian economy.

You play fast and loose with your "facts".

The last figures I have are for 2012.

Russian GDP is 2.015 trillion USD (2012)

UK GDP is 2.435 trillion USD (2012)

So the UK has a higher GDP and larger economy than Russia, with UK GDP is predicted to grow at a substantial rate between now and 2030, the Russians on the other hand may have problems relating to EU moves to cut reliance on Russian Fuel supplies, which are the mainstay of Russian GDP.

As for the UK being in the EU, we are indeed.

Puppet Obama needs more money for the Military Industrial Complex. Meanwhile, Mainstreet continues to fall apart.

The GOP as it is today is no different than "the other party" They are all one big happy family and if you think things are going to change with them getting in, think again. It will be more of the same with divide and conquer tactics against "the other party" as if they are different.

You are very correct,we don't want the U.S. intervening in our affairs,because they do not help It is time that we all woke up to the truth about the origins of WW2,the conspiracy of the allies to control Germany ;
Many people in France today woke up the fact that the terrible scènes of devastated towns in the north of France, were caused by American and English bombers, not the germans ;Indeed the german soldiers
helped those who were homeless ,dying etc
There are people in Normandy who were not allowed to tell the truth about the bombing of Caen and other towns ,for fear of reprisals by the vainquers, those who had set up the whole war to keep control of europe, for their markets etc .The only heroes were the young men who gave their lives for a lie.
The truth is that Germany planned to do away with the Big bankers ,and that certain French and English interests were at stake .Those Americans who say thay we would all be speaking German if they had not 'saved ' us are an embarrassing evidence of both bad education in the truth of history ,and a terrible
side particularly of America which imagines they are our saviours ,when in fact the opposite is the truth.

Thankyou for being awake ,too many are asleep, and dangerous therefore.
An internal examination of how to allow America to grow up ,and stop her interference in others affairs
would be the best possible route to take.
