The whole point of juries is that defendants are convicted by their peers. If you build a dualistic society, it somewhat defeats the purpose if juries of gentrifying whites are convicting poor slumdwellers. We don't need juries if they're just going to validate the White Establishment's judgements being handed down in the ghetto.
The jury pool lives in the same neighborhood. Are you saying that if you are a white store owner and get robbed at gunpoint and shot you should just "get over it" because of differences in culture?
Once I saw "Williamsburg" the first thing that came to mind was a neighborhood bursting at the seams with diversity-loving progressives.
That should be a defense attorney's fantasy to have the beta males, such as the ones in the picture, be on a jury where the defendant is one of....uh......color.
Those guys will suspend all disbelief to show how tolerant and inclusive they are.
This isn't an issue just pertaining to Brooklyn. It happens all over this country. If you look at the justice system statistics, blacks are more likely to get convicted, and when they do, our sentences are often longer.
Our justice system is a mess in some sense. We have 25% of the world's prison population but are also the most dangerous (either us or Russia) of the developed countries I believe. If the solution was to simply lock up as many people for as long as possible then our stats would be reversed.
Doesn't take a genius to tell you our strategy isn't working.

I've always stated that the Black community tends to take a hostile posture towards law enforcement and is more tolerant of crime than the larger community. This type of attitude feeds on itself and makes Black communities more dangerous.
Uh; do you mean hood rat Black people or decent Black dudes and ladies who take care of business? Word is the BIGGEST "racists" against ghetto Black people ARE people who have the same skin color because the rats make them look real bad.

If talking about possession of marijuana, I agree with you 100 percent. IF talking about especially crack; those fools DO need to be locked up, just like anglo white Meth heads.

Agreed to the point they need help. I just think the non-violent offenders need some type of help beyond imprisonment. We need to start providing them with real treatment imo. Let's start reducing the problem.
When it comes to drugs, I believe the only time a person should be locked up is if they violate another law in the process. Pass out on the street, public intoxication. Get into a car accident, face the consequences, etc.
I'm totally against the Drug War and believe most people would make smart choices regardless of the legality of drugs.
As far as violent crime, that's a whole nother issue and beyond a quick fix.
