The APA says they don't know what causes homosexuality, but differences in the amygdala may play an important role.

Not sure how neglect or abuse might bring about physical differences in the brain, but early life experiences could alter the way basic impulses are acted upon or not.

If homosexuality is partly innate and partly learned, individuals could potentially relearn their sexuality.
