time will tell, it always does, and it never lies!!!
Yup.
Keep in mind that this outbreak is taking place in muslim countries and that one of the REQUIREMENTS of islam is that bodies are ritually washed by family members before burial (and keep in mind that ebola causes massive bleeding towards the end - and that blood is one of the main means of transmission). When you combine that requirement with the fact that many of the people in that part of the world are woefully ignorant about modern medicine (including what to do about ebola) you have a situation where the disease can easily spread. This custom, along with the fact that many of the victims were probably "treated" (ie cared for) at home rather than at a hospital is probably the major means of transmission and likely the main reasons the desease has spread so widely. Family members were probably washing these bodies without having a clue that they were infecting themselves.

If you are referring to that video of the guys body (actually we don't know if he was dead or passed out) laying in the street that made the news, we have no clue if he had ebola or not. Whatever it was that brought him down, he probably just collapsed there.
Seriously, that practice of family members washing the dead combined with the fact that many of these victims were probably cared for at home by family members is probably the major reason for the outbreak. Manually handling ebola victims (either when they are alive or when they have died) is just asking to be infected.
The people are refusing to go the the hospital, so they're dying at home and in the streets.
What that means is: no one has any idea how large this epidemic is.
True enough. Ignorance in this case is a huge reason for the relatively high number of deaths - and one of the major challenges in fighting the disease. The good news is that kind of ignorance is a local problem there and doesn't apply to more modern nations (in the event that cases crop up in them).

Are YOU afraid to go to a hospital?
Do you really think Americans would avoid hospitals and leave their medical care to family members?
Really?
REALLY?
Maybe the folks YOU hang with would do that, but the vast majority of people in this country are smarter than that.

Ken
Who in their right mind would go to a hospital for moral support?
That's the official treatment for ebola victims . . . plus intravenous Gatorade.
It's got electrolytes!
The hospitals are underwhelming and overwhelmed.
