Obama is the Commander in Chief...yet passes this off to the State Dept? Always someone else to blame rather than take responsibility. Deplorable!

This Tahmooreesi character is not a serviceman, therefore yes, it is a State Department matter.

Explanations, explanations, explanations...no results.

So what do expect them to do other than to look into the issue, really is not much more that rationally can be done.

Tahmoreesi is a civilian.

Gotta confess, this naive outlook on world affairs is almost endearing. "Oh Hi, Mexico - this the US President. I'd like for you to circumvent every legal principle in your country and release an accused criminal, because he was once a Marine and besides he didn't mean to."

Mexico is a sovereign country. Do you really think the US can just overrule their legal system? Don't you guys get that the harder the US pushes (particularly in public), the harder Mexico will push back, to make it clear that they have the right to treat defendants under their jurisdiction according to Mexican law?

Sigh.

If Tahmooressi is released soon will you give any credit to the State dept & US gov't efforts? Consular officials have visited Tahmooressi frequently and are in contact with the Mexican gov't.

A courtesy, one might add, that the US doesn't necessarily extend to Mexican inmates.
